AN IMPORTANT COMMUNITY SERVICE The Walking Donor Registry System was first established in Hanoi in 1995 at the Hanoi Family Medical Practice and now includes the Danang and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Family Medical Practice clinics. To help ensure that our Family Medical Practice clinics have access to appropriate blood supplies when required, we have established a nationwide "Walking Donor Blood Bank". Access to matching blood types is a matter of life and death in an emergency situation. We ask people to register on our “Walking Donor Blood Bank” list with their blood types, so if a transfusion is required, then it is simply no more than a phone call away. We regularly update our list of donors, to make sure of blood donor availability. Anybody can register to give blood (see the list of exceptions). Registration is a very simple procedure, taking no time at all! If you are able and willing to donate blood, please fill in the Registration Form (file: RegistrationForm.pdf 59Kb), or telephone one of our Family Medical Practice clinics. If you do not know what your blood group is, but would like to register with our "Walking Blood Bank", you can drop in anytime to one of our Family Medical Practice clinics, where a nurse will take a blood sample and our laboratory will conduct a 15-minute blood group test to ascertain your blood group. |
