Dr Rafi came to Vietnam to run a primary health care program in Ha Nam Ninh province for the Vietnamese government in 1988. With 19 years of work experience in Vietnam, no one knows Vietnam quite like Dr Rafi! Committed to offering international quality healthcare for both expatriates and Vietnamese, Dr Rafi opened the first completely foreign-owned medical facility in Vietnam in Hanoi in 1994. This was followed by the Hanoi dental clinic in 1996, the HCM City medical and dental clinics in 2001, the Da Nang clinic in 2004, and the CARE1 Executive Healthcare Center in HCM City in 2007. Dr Rafi is married with a family.

Ciro Gargiulo
Qualified in Acupuncture, Traditional Medicine and Philosophy of Science, Ciro uses a holistic approach to treat a wide range of medical aliments. Acupuncture, diet and traditional remedies help to rebalance the body’s energy fields. Ciro received his formal qualifications from the University of Milan, the Institute of Traditional Medicine In Milan, and the Franco/Viet Medicine Institute in Ville Franche, France. He will soon graduate from The University of Manchester, UK, with a Masters of Science in Immuno-Genetics. Ciro is married with a son and a daughter.

Dr Christine Mouls
Dr Chris has 17 years of experience in dentistry, spanning France, Canada and now Vietnam. A graduate of the French University in Marseille, Dr Chris performs routine dental procedures such as check-ups, cleaning and scaling, teeth bleaching and fillings, as well as more complex dentistry like root canal treatments, surgical dentistry, crowns, bridges and prosthodontic treatments. Dr Luan Tran
Dr Luan Tran graduated with honors from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in HCM City in 1995. He continued his residency in Otolaryngology at the same institution, also graduating with honors. Highly experience in the field of ENT, Dr Tran spent a year in France working as an ENT doctor, and completed his fellowship training in Otology, Rhinology & Sinus Surgery in the United States. Dr Tran treats both adults and children.

Dr Edward Cortez
Dr Edward completed his medical degree at the Far Eastern University in Manila. He worked as a GP in various hospitals and in some remote areas in the Philippines before completing a three-year specialty training in Pediatric Medicine. Dr Edward has experience in all areas of general practice and is adept at handling ambulatory and emergency cases. Dr Edward is currently our on-site physician at the Siemens project in Ca Mau.

Dr Thu, a General Practitioner, received her diploma from the Faculty of Family Planning & Reproductive Health at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and her GP certification at the Royal College of General Practitioners, both in the UK. Before coming to Vietnam in 2007, Dr. Thu worked at a large primary care center in London, providing pediatric, gynecological, psychiatric, obstetric and palliative care for patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. Back in England Dr. Thu enjoyed dragon boat racing, taking part in regular competitions with her all-women rowing crew.

Dr. Christopher Suazon
Dr Chris completed his medical degree at the Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas, Manila Philippines. He practices general medicine and has been in practice for almost 6 years. He has up to date knowledge and skills in the different fields of medicine. He has trained in both government and private local and international hospitals. Dr Chris has 3 years in training doing surgical procedures like simple mass excisions, bilateral tube ligations, performing normal deliveries and Ceasarian sections.He also has tremendous experience in outpatient and emergency care medicine for both adults and pediatrics. In his free time, he loves to cook and engage in sports like basketball.

Dr Jane studied medicine at New York State Medical School at Stony Brook and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at New York University and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Institute. She has a Diploma in Tropical Medicine, and is Board Certified in the United States for Internal Medicine. Dr Jane has been with Family Medical Practice HCM City since 2003. She is married with two lovely girls and in her free time enjoys traveling, reading and gastronomy.

Dr Mark Siefring
Dr Mark Siefring M.D. is a Certified Internist by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine (1995), then from Baylor College of Medicine; Internal Medicine (1998). Dr. Mark also holds a Masters Degree in the study of Molecular Virology, specifically Influenza. Dr Mark joined Family Medical Practice HCMC in 2005 after working for 3 years for Columbia Aisa as their Medical Director. He enjoys going to the gym and adores his dogs, Daisy and Caeser, and his two Bombay cats.

Dr. Doanh Lu received her medical training in the United States. She completed residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and infectious diseases, and is certified in both specialties by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Doanh is interested in tropical medicine, hepatitis B and C, TB, and HIV.
Dr. Doanh loves to travel. She also belongs to an international volunteer group which performs medical services to underserved communities around the world.

Dr Riche has 12 years experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Receiving his PhD from Grenoble University, Grenoble in France, Dr Riche is specialized in Gynecological Surgery that includes oncology on breast, cervix, uterus and ovaries and Laparascopy and Endoscopy surgery. He is also specialized in the area of Pregnancy including deliveries and high risk pregnancies as well as infertility treatment. He has recently joined the Family Medical Practice HCMC after working for FV Hospital, HCMC, Vietnam for 3 and a half years as the head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Dr. Riche works full-time at the Family Medical Practice HCMC. In his private life, he enjoys riding a motor bike and traveling.

Dr Pham Van Hoang
Dr Hoang has 15 years of experience in Ophthalmology. He trained at the medical faculty of Montpellier University and at Paris V11 University in France, as well as in Vietnam. Dr Hoang specializes in ophthalmic treatment using ophthalmic ultrasound and retinal laser treatments such as vitrous-retinal surgery and eyelid surgery.

Dr Claudio Duek
Dr Claudio completed his medical training and orthopedic specialty in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and in Madrid (Spain). He went on to complete his qualifications at Boucicaut Hospital, The French Institute of Hand Surgery and at Paris School of Surgery. He has participated in numerous research papers and spoken at many international conferences, most recently in Japan. His competencies range from major orthopedic work and specialty hand reconstruction and acute and secondary burns to reconstructive surgery for adults and children. Dr Agnes Viay
Dr Agnes Viay is a Pediatric Specialist who completed her medical degree at the Pontifical and Royal University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, the oldest existing university in Asia. She then underwent 3 years of training for pediatric medicine at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, where she served as an assistant chief resident. Dr Agnes has solid experience in outpatient and emergency pediatric medicine and has a special interest in preventative care. She can advise on nutrition, immunization and prevention measures to ensure childhood safety. In her free time, Dr Agnes likes to read, travel and listen to music – she is a big fan of J-pop.

Dr Amir Klivitsky
Dr Amir specialized in Pediatric Medicine after graduating from Sackler School of Medicine and completing his residency at Wolfson Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. With experience in pediatric intensive care and community medicine, Dr Amir takes an interest in volunteer work, such as his trip with “Save a Child’s Heart” to Zanzibar/Pemba Island where he helped to diagnose congenital heart defects in children. Dr Amir runs first aid training courses for both adults and children. In his free time, he enjoys drawing and oil painting. He and his wife Rachael are the happy parents of 4 cats.

Dr. Erwin Ryan M. Samson
Dr. Erwin completed his medical education in 2001 at the University of the Philippines, and received his pediatric residency training at the Philippine General Hospital. Before coming to Vietnam, he was in private practice for three years at several hospitals and outpatient clinics in the Philippines, and was involved in the residency training program of Las Pinas Doctors’ Hospital as a pediatric consultant. He enjoys photography, long road trips, online games, and buttered popcorn. He is engaged to be married in January of 2009 to his fiancee, Dorothy, who is a pediatrician based in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr Jonathan specialized in Pediatric Medicine after graduating from Sackler School of Medicine and completing his residency at Wolfson Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel. Experienced with children of all ages, Dr Jonathan offers childhood growth and development assessments, advice on nutrition and immunization and pre-admission school check ups. Having been with Family Medical Practice since 2005, he is active in Saigon community events. Dr. Jonathan comes from a large family and has 26 nephews and nieces. He loves music and sports.

Dr Thoi Pham
Dr Thoi graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in HCMC in 1995, then trained in Ultrasound and Imaging in Singapore and was employed as Department Head of the Ultrasound Department at Columbia Gia Dinh International Hospital and Victoria Healthcare International Clinic. A full-time ultrasonographer, Dr Thoi works at our HCMC clinic, operating the latest 3D-4D Voluson 730 Ultrasound Machine. Married with 2 children, Dr Thoi doesn’t mind being a househusband when his wife, an internal medicine doctor, is busy with her work.

Dr Phi Lap Trinh
A graduate of the Vietnam University of Medicine in Hanoi, Dr Lap has 17 years of experience in the field of Radiology and has worked in major hospitals in HCM City. He spent one year training at UCSF in the USA and two years in France. Dr Lap specializes in reading MRI, CT-scanner, Angiography (DSA), Mammography and X-Ray pictures. He is married with a daughter and a son.
